@ShottySnipa
Stop talking pup. There are plenty of linear single player games out there that sell well. They don't get replayed as much as online games, but that's not the same thing as how well the game sells.
@ Erudito87
I agree 100%, you can't aim for GOTY in the same year as Skyrim, that's just silly :/
@ theonlylolking
I haven't seen any frame rate drops in single player or multiplayer. I keep telling you to stop smoking that crack, it's not good for you :(
If you know it isn't going to win, why nominate it? If you want to acknowledge it for it's achievement, have an "honorary" category or something. And as much as I love Gears 3 I know it isn't going to win anything because there are so many other games out this year that have innovated far more than Gears 3.
But what also doesn't make sense is why nominate Skyrim when it isn't even out yet :( Don't get me wrong, I want Skyrim to win, bu...
@Felinox: stop living in a video game fantasy land. Fluffy is right. The install base for 360 and PS3 is large enough for Rockstar to make $$$ so why wouldn't they? Same goes to DA_SHREDDER's comment. Why should they wait till next gen? Next gen will come sooner or later, they can make more then enough money from the "current" gen. True about developers making a name for themselves when new tech becomes available, but you're also gona have games coming out for old ...
Skyrim all the way! Isn't there another major game coming out this week?
The difference is we KNOW Skyrim will be an open world game. The only thing that could let it down is how big the game world actually is.
Once again, the Elder Scrolls games are all about the details of the world, not necessarily the scale. Allot of people just don't seem to get it. All you want is higher resolution textures and higher polygon models: there's more that goes into a game then the graphics. Skyrim doesn't look as incredible as a game like Gears or Uncharted, but compare all the stuff you can do in Skyrim to super-linear corridoor shooter with super scripted action sequences. Skyrims spends it's...
I know what you mean, and I think I get that feeling of an environment being alive comes from the small details, rather than the large: using Oblivion as an example, you walk into a room and it has a dinning table laid out with plates, cutlery, cups and food, all of which can be picked up and stored in your inventory: even enchanted. By contrast you have a game like Crackdown, massive city, lots to do, but everything feels scaled too large: picking up an object like a car tyre or a car door ...
I honestly don't know what people are complaining about.
The old GTAs were not ground breaking graphically, GTA 4 was probably the first tme the series was recognised for amazing visuals. Considering it's still on the same tech as GTA 4, the step up is noticable and is definitely an improvement. The focus on smaller details is something I like: Oblivion focused on modeling smaller objects and that's what sets it apart technically from other games. I'm gla...
G36C AND the ACR in the same game? Too much win!
Though I don't like what they've done with Killstreaks in MW3, I do like the sound of the perks: it seems they might actually be usefull this time. I have tyo admit, I am looking forward to this but we'll have to see how it turns out.
Thought the loss of the FAMAS is regretable, I never used the Vector so I don't mind it's absence. Last Stand was pointless, it should be cut.
So what, people can lay claymores down on every freakin' corner like in Black Ops? Screw that! Claymores should replace grenades. You stick to your little Coco-ops ok?
I have to agree with everyone else here. It took me ages to customise a female character in Oblivion that didn't look awkward and eventually I gave up and went with what I had. But I ended up really liking the way she looked in the end, pasty-faced and hunched over: made her feel more real.
It's definitely worth it! Don't expect anything ground breaking technically, but it's probably one of my favourite games of all time, mostly because of the art and aesthetics (I love the Metal Gear Solid meets cyber punk feel.)
I'm glad to hear it's helped boost their profits, let's hope it encourages them to invest alot into the next one!
Same, I thought they were talking about race specific abilities. Annoying.
I reckon the reviewer is right. Gears 3 campaign wasn't all that: I prefered the Gears 2 campaign. Uncharted's campaign probably would be better. But I bet Gears 3's multiplayer will be played far longer than Uncharted's multiplayer. So, which one makes which a better game?
Everyone has their preferences at the end of the day. I have alot of respect for the Uncharted series, but it's just too cinematic (stop start) for my personal tastes (it's all about b...
Brought.
Controversially, I don't know anyone who owns a 360 without a hard drive. And on the other hand, anyone who owns a 360 without a hard drive, probably isn't that big a gamer to care whether they're getting high res textures or not. So I would suggest you stop feeling sorry for those kids, because they're probably blissfully ignorant.
And for 4gb slim owners: may I suggest one solution? Don't waste your money on Battlefield 3 anyway.
Did anyone on this site actually see the video? Ok, the title is a little flame-baiting (as usual) but he was a point. BF3's single player is super scripted and linear: that kind of gameplay shouldn't be made in this day and age. The guy in the video even singles out "military" FPS games as the ones that have crap single player campaigns. And I agree: that kind of gameplay shouldn't be encouraged. But it's completely different from DECENT single player campaign ...
I'm not surprised. I walked into Game thinking I might pick it up but I didn't see it in store...WTF?
